Alexander Wang has certainly cemented his name in the fashion industry, but the designer is still amazed when he sees his name in the street and finds the job incredibly demanding.
The 30-year-old has both his own eponymous line, which is famous for their wearable and luxe jersey wear, as well as being the creative director at Balenciaga.
And he admits he still struggles with everything that’s going on.
He said: "It's crazy. It's been such an extraordinary ride. It is trippy when you walk down the street or go to a foreign country and there's a store there with my name on.
"This industry is very demanding and you have to be able to create barriers and boundaries around yourself. You need space to think, to reflect and to celebrate. For me that's always been about having my friends around me."
But you certainly won’t find the designer resting on his laurels, as he is constantly finding new ways to challenge himself.
He added: "Balenciaga has really helped me recognise what is individual about myself in New York and recognise what's homebase.
"Starting my own brand and then going to Balenciaga, where you're working with an archive and artistic history is such a great challenge.
"I love taking risks - it pushes me into kind of an uncomfortable zone which is what I like.
"I feel like I'm starting over again. It's like I'm a student when I go to Paris [for Balenciaga] and that's very exciting for me."
