Alexa Chung's friends are her "muses" for her designs.
The 32-year-old model and fashion designer, who is set to unveil her forthcoming fashion range Alexachung in May next year has admitted her creations are inspired by her friends and family and when she is coming up with a new garment she "always " has "someone" in mind.
Speaking to the Telegraph.co.uk about her lines, Alexa - who launched her capsule Archive for Alexa with Marks and Spencer earlier this year, and has also collaborated with AG Jeans and Madewell - said: "But, really, I just want my friends to like it and people that I know. When I'm making something, I always have someone in mind. For the navy blue suit, I was like, 'Oh, my friend Gillian would love that.' Or the trench for Tenessee. They're my muses.'"
However, the star - who was scouted at the age of 16 by Storm Model Management - has revealed she is constantly worrying about how her collections are received by others because she doesn't want disappoint anyone.
She explained: "Yes, I worry. It's just a blanket worry I have in life. Not necessarily about approval. I'm kind of a Girl Guide, so I don't want to let anyone down - especially not the brand that has brought me in to give them my opinions."
The brunette beauty has admitted she was "less afraid" designing the forthcoming collection.
She said: "There was no pre-thought on the first one; I was so stuck on provenance and making sure that the pieces were exact replicas of the originals. This time, I was less afraid to tinker with things and make it slightly more appropriate for now.
"For this collection, I was thinking: what happens after dark? I wanted to make a tuxedo, I wanted 1970s disco, Studio 54. Fabric-wise, I thought it could be a bit more shiny. Synthetic, but in a good way. And I was thinking of photographers and imagery that I like, Guy Bourdin or Bryan Ferry. It's kind of Roxy Music - a bit slinkier, a bit edgier."
