Yves Saint Laurent is having a good week- having been released from hospital he has now been awarded a top French honour.
The veteran designer received the title of Grand Officier of the French Legion of Honour for his services to the fashion industry.
French Prime Minister Nicolas Sarkozy presented the award, which is the second highest national honour, at the country's July 14th promotion ceremony.
Saint Laurent was praised for his groundbreaking work throughout his career as one of the world's most famous couturiers.
He was admitted to a Paris hospital last week following respiratory problems but is recovering at home after being released over the weekend.
The French designer began his career working for Christian Dior when he was just 17 and when on to become a master of haute couture.
His own fashion house was huge in the 60s and 70s but was forced to close in 2002 due to health problems, drug addiction and arguements with head designer Tom Ford. The house continues to sell lines through it's parent company Gucci.
