Yves Saint Laurent is recovering well and was released from hospital this morning.

The veteran designer was admitted to a Paris hospital last week following respiratory problems.

"Mr. Saint Laurent is doing better," a spokesman for the legendary couturier confirmed to WWD. "He arrived home this morning."

The French designer began his career working for Christian Dior when he was just 17 and when on to become a master of haute couture.

His own fashion house was huge in the 60s and 70s but was forced to close in 2002 due to health problems, drug addiction and arguements with head designer Tom Ford. The house continues to sell lines through it's parent company Gucci.
