There are many things that inspire fashion: Experiences, culture and personal sentiments and this is no different for Kingston Fashion student, Jaskiran Hare.
She grew up in Essex, her family is from India she loves Japanese food and her collection is inspired by the homeless Russians. Nobody can say she's not versatile.
er womenswear collection, which was nominated for the prestigious George Gold Award at Graduate Fashion Week last week is said to be based on 'disjointed worn-out clothes.'
It seems to feature everything from panels of suits worn by businessmen to the office to gansters in Chicago - there is a bit of everything, which arguably, is what fashion is all about. Taken the old as well as the new, revamping and turning it into a new concept, trend or style.
The collection is mainly in monochrome. Blacks, greys and whites make up the various dresses and jackets that have the 'live-in' feel. It brings together so many walks of life and also tries to make a statement, something that often can be lost on designs on the runway.
One of the most striking things about these pieces, alongside their interesting shape is the injection of ivory at differnt points of the piece. It not only keeps the eye darting across the clothes but adds texture to them too.
We cannot wait to see what comes next for this unquestionably talented designer.
