Alexander McQueen’s suicide has left the fashion industry in shock over the past 24 hours, and already tributes from clients and celebrity admirers have been flooding in.
The 40-year old was found hanged in his London home yesterday, and admirers the world over have been paying their respects; Kate Moss, who was once a bridesmaid at Alexander's wedding, was said to be "shocked and devastated" and spent the day at home crying.
Another model and good friend, Naomi Campell said, "I am truly devastated. His talent had no boundaries and he was an inspiration." Whilst the editor of British Vogue called McQueen a "modern-day genius."
Whilst his work life included dressing huge names such as Cheryl Cole, Lady GaGa, Rihanna and Christina Aguilera, his personal life was a different story, and he had been struggling to cope in the wake of his mother's death just a few days ago, and today was to have been her funeral.
Whilst Alexander left a series of messages on Twitter expressing his sadness, he did write just a few days ago that "life must go on", making this loss even more tragic.
A true genius, he will be sorely missed by all who ever knew him.
