Scarlett Johansson has revealed why she ditched her blonde locks in favour of a new plum coloured barnet.
The stunning actress, who is the new face of Dolce & Gabbana's make-up line apparently changed her hair colour out of boredom.
She reportedly told The Telegraph:"I was bored one day. It was raining. I was with a hairdresser friend and just decided to colour my hair. We experimented with a few shades until we got the right one. I like it."
Her new locks were met with reservation initially, as many associated her with a modern day Marilyn Monroe, complete with the 'blonde bombshell' image.
"For a long time I've had really white-blonde hair. I'm naturally blonde - my dad's Danish - and I was playing up to it. I wanted to act out all those famous blonde icons - Lauren Bacall, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe," she added.
Scarlett unveiled a darker red shade on Monday at Milan Fashion Week, as she posed alongside Dolce & Gabbana for their new AW09 show.
