Roberto Cavalli is reportedly set to face legal action, brought against him by his licensing company, Ittierre SpA.

The designer who showcased his latest collection to buyers and the press in Milan last week, is being sued by the company over his recent comments about turning the brand around.

According to WWD, the administrators were appointed last month after Ittierre filed for bankruptcy.

Lawyers have now been called in to "protect Ittierre SpA regarding industrial, economic and image damages derived from Mr. Roberto Cavalli's repeated comments in reference to the Just Cavalli license and the activity of the administrators themselves."

They also spoke out about Cavalli's decision to abandon his Just Cavalli's A/W 2009-10 show, claiming it was "unilateral" and "unjustified with serious prejudice to Ittierre's image".

Cavalli has responded about the legal action, calling it instead a political matter, adding "My contract with Ittierre expires in two seasons so I practically already have a foot outside.

"As far as I am concerned, [the contract] has expired. I don't understand their point of view," he concluded.

Despite the nasty business surrounding his company, he can take some comfort in knowing how successful the launch of his credit card was at the weekend.

Attended by Liz Hurley, Mila Jovovich and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, he had the best celebs spot of Fashion Week so far.
