With her stunning looks and unique, if not a little daring fashion sense, it comes as no surprise that the lovely lady was told to tone it down at the beginning of her career.
In an interview with Glamour magazine the now red head tells that she was told to be careful as to what image she projected of herself when she was just starting her now globally dominating career.
As well reserved outfits she was also told not to wear red or pink lipstick to bear in mind the ages of the majority of her audience at the time. With such a young fan base, she was being told to keep herself fresh.
It has been reported that the sexy singer likes choosing an outfit that she knows will get a reaction from the public.
"But I really wanted to be myself. I wanted to be sassy, the attitude, all the things that I am," Rihanna tells glamour."
Since her days of jeans and a t-shirt for her debut single Pon De Replay, the Barbados native has come a long way. Her hair is rarely seen in the same style for longer than a week and her outfits both on and off stage can be as outrageous as the are provocative and trend-setting.
On the cover of Glamour magazine Ri Ri is wearing a backless white shirt and some very tight black sequined bottoms.
It has been reported that the sexy singer likes choosing an outfit that she knows will get a reaction from the public.
"Getting dressed, I want to pick the most bizarre pair of shorts so I can figure out how to make it look right, or work an outfit that will make people go, "What the is she wearing?" Rihanna says.
Not only is Rihanna's singing career going from strength to strength, but her fashion statements are making a name for her in the industry too.
She has recently been announced as the faced of the Armani campaign and was named Vogue Italia's 'Woman of the Year', the magazine associated with eccentricities in style.
