Racism is always going to be an issue but it seems that the fashion industry is getting better and including more black models, Grazia reports.
At this year's New York Fashion Week of 3,697 models on the runways 668 were coloured. That is 18% of the models.
This is an increase of 6% from last year and much better than autumn 2007 when WWD reported that a third of New York shows did not include one coloured model.
With beautiful black models including Naomi Campbell and model of the year Jourdan Dunn it's hard to understand why things are not more equal however it's nice to see an improvement.
Let's hope next year sees even more of improvement.
