Naomi Campbell has been a busy lady lately, taking part in India's Lakme Fashion Week and arranging her move to Russia but the supermodel managed to squeeze in some time to receive an award.
Naomi was appointed global ambassador of the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) at the African First Ladies Health Summit following her work for the Fashion For Relief charity, Vogue.com reports. The award was presented by the Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown, who is the initiative's global patron.
Naomi told Vogue: "When I met with Sarah Brown at Downing Street over a year ago, she explained in detail the staggering statistics around maternal mortality. I was deeply moved. We decided I would host Fashion For Relief 2008 in aid of the White Ribbon Alliance."
"It is with great pride that I accept my role as global ambassador. I hope you will join me in continuing to support the important work of the White Ribbon Alliance."
Brigid McConville, UK director for White Ribbon Alliance, added: "Naomi will be a great ambassador for White Ribbon Alliance because she is the embodiment of this great spirit of creativity, positive energy and womanhood."
Despite her diva reputation it is great to see Naomi showing her sensitive side and doing something so important.
