Supermodel Naomi Campbell is desperate to share the camera lens with former South African president Nelson Mandela.

The star is keen to be snapped with the icon - with whom she has shared a 16 year friendship - at the unveiling of his statue in London on Wednesday (29Aug07), because she wants the picture to have pride of place in her photo album.

She says, "One of the greatest joys in my life has been knowing the great Nelson Mandela.

"His kindness, passion and intelligence has extended beyond South Africa defining him as a modern world leader.

"I'm even bringing along my mum and hopefully we can sneak a picture.

"It's too incredible not to have him in the photo album."
