The winners of the lasted NEWGEN sponsorships has been announced.
Funding from the British Fashion Council will be provided to J.W. Anderson and Simone Rocha, amongst others, to help fund their upcoming Auymn/Winter 2013-14 collection.
Each of the fashion designers will receive sponsorship money to help support their shows at London Fashion Week - taking place in February.
Previous recipents of the award include Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab and Erdem, to name a few - and we all know how strong their brands are now.
"The NEWGEN bar is set so high: to qualify, designers must prove their originality, excellence and openness to learning how to take first steps in businesses," said Sarah Mower, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and NEWGEN selection chair. "This season's winners are a snapshot of what London is now - a varied group of vivid individualists, from many countries. They're a brilliant reflection of the energy of a city which enables so many talents to settle and shine."
Others to receive the NEWGEN funding include shoe designer Liam Fahy and then Paula Gerbase. Both will stage exhibitions during LFW together with Maarten van der Horst, Palmer//Harding and Huishan Zhang. While Sophia Webster, Christopher Raeburn, J JS Lee, Marques'Almeida, Nasir Mazhar, Sister by Sibling and Lucas Nascimento have all been awarded with sponsorship to stage presentations.
The NEWGEN scheme was founded in 1993 and has helped to develop emerging British-based fashion talent throughout the years.
