Michelle Obama criticised for wardrobe choices

Michelle Obama is receiving criticism for her choice of wearing Alexander McQueen.

The First Lady chose to wear a red, sleeveless, asymmetrical neckline dress for the state dinner for Chinese president Hu Jintao, which she attended with her husband.

Oscar de la Renta has however criticised her for the choice. He told WWD: “My understanding is that the visit was to promote American-Chinese trade – American products in China and Chinese products in America. Why do you wear European clothes?

“I'm not talking about my clothes, my business. I'm old, and I don't need it. But there are a lot of young people, very talented people here who do,” he continued saying.

The dress was an altered version of a look from Sarah Burton's first full collection at Alexander McQueen.

It's not the first time that Michelle Obama has been criticised for her wardrobe choices, and will most probably not be the last.
