Marc Jacobs is the Council for Fashion Designers of America's chosen Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
As a designer for Gucci, Marc Jacobs tested boundaries and lived on the edge, bringing us looks like the punk rocker for SS 2009. Even after he left to pursue his own label Marc by Marc Jacobs he maintained his love of all things showmanship and eccentric. If the crowd went one way, designing sleek, toned-down designs Marc would be flamboyant and larger than life.
Previous winners of this coverted award are Donna Karen, Yves Saint Lauren and Geoffrey Beene to name but a few. If there was any doubt of Marc's place in fashion then this secures him as one of the greats: setting trends very few would think of and most definitely ahead of his time.
He is appreciated, feared but above all respected, battling through personal issues that would have ruined lesser men, Marc is still standing tall and proud, putting everything he has into his designs and giving everything he has to offer the world of fashion where, if for one night only, he is King.
