MTV Movie Awards: Red Carpet Fashion

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards was no different as the A-Listers dragged themselves before an adoring public to show us all their sense of style.

One of the favourites of the night was Elle Fanning. Her floral playsuit had the tongues of the fashion industry wagging. The outfit was casually classy and allowed the personality of this starlet to shine through. There was no over-the-top make-up, no trying to seem older than she is, just a young girl enjoying herself with a sense of style most adults would kill for. Instead, she accessorised with a thin belt to add definition to her demure figure and some beautiful floral wedges for height. One criticism: Perhaps add some volume to the hair, curls can say casual and may have just finished off the retro outfit.

Selena Gomez looks older and older everyday, but she is still only 18. She looked toned, tanned and happy wearing cream and hair falling loosely around her face. She seemed to get the right mix of teen star with young woman right on the night - which can be a mean ask on the red carpet.

Leighton Meester was a definite favourite of the night. She looked absolutely stunning in her silver, sparkling above-the-knee dress. The pattern is fabulous and shape flatters the curvy brunette completely. Her simple haircut and effortless make-up are brought to life by this dress. We want it!

14-year-old Hailey Steinfield shocked crowds in a black suit in June, but few will deny she looked great. While it suited her petite frame and also gave off an air of sophistication and elegance we have come to expect from the newest face of Miu Miu both on and off screen - she is aging herself slightly and could have worn something a little more in keeping with her age demographic and in season.

Emma Watson (hair issues aside) looked amazing in a silk ivory and silk jewel-encrusted Marchesa dress. It suited her figure completely and was finished off with some striking silver shoes.

Twilight's Kristen Stewart confused slightly with a Balmain number detailed with safety pins. From a distance it looks very edgy and rock-chick and very Kristen - up close we can't really understand why. That said, she looks stunning with flawless eye make-up and big hair there is nothing bad to say.

While Kristen Stewart may have got it right, her Twilight co-star Nikki Reed did nothing for herself in this Heather dress. With a body like hers we expected something a little more fitted that this black, boring see-through number. With curves like that you need to flatter your shape more rather than looking like a bad tent. All that said, her hair glossed like no other and we're all jealous of those pins!

Nothing can be said for Amanda Byrnes outfit other than: No. The skin-tight bra-less dress is not that jaw-dropping and the tassled shoes should never be worn in public again. Note to self: Nude, Black and Turquoise - a no go!

Quick Notes:

Nicki Minaj - What were you thinking?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - stunning, even in animal print.

Mila Kunis  - aside from being v lucky on stage with Mr Timberlake, we also want her skirt!
