H&M has announced a 17% rise in sales while the high street struggles through the cold summer.

Profits for for most high street stores have taken a battering after the wettest June on record has stopped people splashing out on a summer wardrobe.

Mark and Spencers, who have been steadily increasing their sales through early 2007, announced a slow down in profits earlier this month.

Chief executive Stuart Rose told Vogue: "We believe that the short term trading environment will remain very challenging."

H&M puts it's boom down to the successful collabaration with Kylie Minogue and the launch of her new bikini line. Those trying to escape the British weather are obviously wanting to do it with style.

The clothes store will continue to expand by opening more stores worldwide and also last month announced plans to work on a new range with designer Roberto Cavalli.

Cavalli said:" I enthusiastically welcomed this invitation, proud to bring the lively and positive spirit of my work to a new audience, who will be able to see and interpret my style in an individual way."

H&M’s Margareta van den Bosch added:" Roberto Cavalli has created a world of his own, iconic and full of fantasy, when it comes to colours, prints, and style."
