Mascara adverts starring Kate Moss have been banned after claims that the pictures had been edited to make her lashes look better.

The action ame after two viewers pointed out that the model is actually wearing false lashes in the ads for Rimmel's Magnif'Eyes mascara.

Ad firm J Walter Thompson could not prove that Kate’s lashes real, so the Advertising Standards Authority banned the campaign for misleading the public.

The adverts appeared on TV as well as glossy magazines and claimed the product gave 70 per cent more 'lash lift' than rival brands. Moss was seen fluttering long thick eyelashes in the images, implying that they were the result of using the mascara.

This latest blow to the Kate Moss brand comes after news last week that she has been dropped from 7 major campaigns now that the buzz around her cocaine habit has died down.

The supermodel amazingly bounced back after she was allegedly caught taking drugs in 2005 as big labels fell over themselves to sign her up and cash in on the publicity.

The Daily Mail reports that Kate has been quietly dropped from major campaigns from the likes of Dior, Agent Provocateur and Virgin Mobile now that the hype surrounding her has fizzled out.
