The Kate Middleton effect has struck once again - this time she's influencing our choice of headwear.
Petite occasion wear group, Jacques Vert reports a 111 per cent increase in sales of fascinators compared to this time last year across brands including Alexon, Minuet Petite and Kaliko, following Kate Middleton changing the way of fashion from the occasion hat to the occasion fascinator.
Since November 2010, when Kate and Will got engaged, the overall sales of fascinators have dramatically increased as Kate adopted the style and Jacques Vert Group customers quickly followed. There has been an increase in sales for Kaliko, Alexon and Minuet Petite by over 100% following the Royal engagement which demonstrates the huge impact Kate’s look has had on sales.
Kate’s every move is watched by the nation and this goes for the fashion hawk eye followers too who have monitored her every hat, skirt, shoe and fascinator, turning her into a truly deserved British fashion icon.
Royal Ascot saw more women than ever before wearing fascinators rather than hats despite the new ‘hat’ rule in place this year. Whether it’s large or small the fascinator has quickly become every British woman’s must-have fashion accessory.
James Randall, Head of Marketing at the Jacques Vert Group said, “Kate’s appeal has turned the nation into obsessive Kate watchers. Her classic yet convincingly chic approach to fashion transcends all ages and is definitely admired by our customers who are eager to recreate her look. Fascinators have definitely become a given in every woman’s wardrobe as Kate puts occasion wear back on the fashion map.”
