The estranged wife of Sir Paul Mc Cartney was dropped by the animal rights charity at the request of his eldest daughter Mary.
Renowned photographer Mary Mc Cartney only agreed to carry on working for PETA after she was assured Heather was no longer involved in the organisation.
A source reported to be one of Marys closest friends said:" Mary wanted to take photographs for PETA, which she has done in the past, but wanted assurances that Heather no longer represented the group."
Mary has photographed many campaigns highlighting animal cruelty for PETA and is an avid supporter of the charity along with her designer sister Stella Mac Cartney.
