Giorgio Armani has received an honorary degree for industrial design.

The legendary Italian designer was honoured by the Politecnico di Milano University recently.

This is his second honorary degree in the last six months; London’s University of Arts awarded him a doctorate in October.

WWD also reported that he gave the budding design students the benefit of his experience. He said:"A collection can be destroyed by the press, but if you believe it, keep it."

Armani’s trademark elegant and classic designs have earned his company sales of a reported $1 billion.

In 2000 the influential Forbes magazine declared him the world’s most successful designer.
