Shopstyle.co.uk has revealed that it came out top for the most popular item search of 2011.
It’s not surprising when you think about, a whole host of celebrities have been wearing them and we had a huge choice of both designer and high street to pick from.
Wearing it in the summer with sandals, huge beads and a pair of aviators or in the winter with a chunky knit and work wear boots – you were never going to be on the worst dressed lists.
Catherine Middleton has also had a positive effect on the fashion industry too. Thanks to her stunning Alexander McQueen wedding dress, ShopStyle.co.uk saw an enormous 100 per cent increase in traffic the day of the wedding as women flocked online to find Middleton-inspired dresses.
Alexander McQueen jumped into the top 40 search terms as it was revealed the bride’s wedding dress was designed by the iconic UK fashion house. The only other designer to move into the Top 10 this year was Ralph Lauren, his leap fuelled by his TV appearance on Oprah.
