The cold weather has set in and that mean's we're ready to get cosy - of course this means the slippers are coming out.
Online and high street footwear retailer, Shoe Zone, has sold an astonishing 153,000 pairs of slippers in just two weeks from 24 September – 7 October 2012.
Customers turning their heels at the recent cold weather, purchased Shoe Zone slippers at a record 7.6 pairs per minute during the two week period, increasing slipper sales by a staggering 27% compared to 120,000 pairs sold like-for-like in 2011.
Naomi Shefford, Marketing and Property Director said: “The sudden cold weather took many customers by surprise and shoppers rushed to stock up on winter essentials. We cannot believe how many slippers have flown off the shelves – the team have to had to work hard to ensure there are plenty of slippers available to meet customer demand.”
Shoe Zone’s sales results show that all the family were to keen to purchase a new pair of slippers as soon as the chill arrived; women’s and men’s slipper sales were both up by 26% compared to the same two week period in 2011, and children’s were up by a further 30%.
