Since then, her Abbey Dawn range has expanded from printed t-shirts and hoodies to dresses, skirts, accessories, swimwear and a men's line too.
Miss Lavigne showed off her latest creations at last week's Berlin Fashion Week decked in the designs she claims to be inspired by her music, loves and lifestyle.
What is clear is that these designs are inspired by herself, modelled by herself and worn by herself.
Rightly or wrongly you are unlikely to find something in her latest collection that will not be seen on the body of the lovely Avril who has maintained her edgy, multi-coloured streaked hair looked for the decade she has been a name in music.
The dress, called the 'party-crasher', is a one-shouldered number in black with a savage -looking wild cat printed on the front. It's not exactly Oscar appropriate but the style and price will appeal to the younger audience she tries so hard to maintain.
The prices of all her Abbey Dawn clothes are around the same price, scout the website and you'll be hard pushed to find something over $50.
We are impressed with her 'rip-curl-esque' bikini that is very cool for this season. The purpple and white design with heavily printed motif is lacking the skulls and wild cats that seem to have taken over the rest of her designs.
It is fresh and brings hope to fashion commentators that the singer/songwriter may have something more to offer the world of fashion.
The label, Abbey Dawn is inspired by the childhood nickname that Avril's father used to call her.
