It was one of the most eagerly anticipated exhibits all over the world and it turns out that the hype was worth it.
Open for only 77 days and already the 'Savage Beauty' exhibit by the late Alexander McQueen has welcome 500,000 visitors through its doors.
The news came yesterday as the Met Costume Institute tweeted: Another @metmuseum milestone - Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty is about to have its 500,000 visitor! Who will it be?"
The tribute to the late designer, who tragically killed himself in February last year, opened on 4 May and saw the Met's biggest ever opening day as thousands of dedicated McQueen fans paid their respect to the talented designer and the stunning clothes that he had worked so hard to create.
Due to the overwhelming demane the museum have been forced to keep the exhbit open for one more week longer than planned, now until 7 August.
As a result of the popular exhibit, fashion enthusiasts from every corner of the globe wanting to see the clothes are being advised to go early in the morning - as one afternoon, the crowds were so deep inside all six of the show rooms that it was almost impossible to see the clothes.
Both fans and fashion commentators alike are finding the experience very emotional - to be so close to the beautiful creations, craftsmanship and stunning detail that went into making every single one of these items a masterpiece.
