Alexa Chung has proven her growing fashion credentials further by appearing on the cover of this month's Elle magazine.

The TV presenter turned style icon swaps her usual grungy boho image for a classic demure look as she poses alongside a vintage car for the magazine.

Alexa also spoke to Elle about her new fashionable friend Karl Lagerfeld: "I think we're firm friends now," she confirmed to the magazine, "I interviewed him, he said. 'Oh all these people stink' and then, 'Not you, I like you, but no-one else.' I thought, 'YES! Karl Lagerfeld likes me!"
