Sam Taylor-Johnson is "utterly obsessed with clothes".
The acclaimed director feels slightly embarrassed about the passion she has for her wardrobe and has revealed that she thinks it spans from her childhood when her family couldn't afford to buy new garments.
She told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: "I am completely, utterly obsessed with clothes. To an embarrassing extent,
"I don't want to delve too deeply, but it's probably got something to do with being that child at school who wore my shoes down until the soles were worn through, and then I got a new pair.
"I didn't have multiple pairs of shoes. Now having 100 pairs of shoes, or whatever, feels so luxurious."
Despite her passion for fashion, the 47-year-old filmmaker has been making Hollywood stars ditch their clothes in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of EL James's 'Fifty Shades of Grey', which she has directed, and admits that she feels nervous about how it will be received.
Speaking about the erotic film, she said: "It's an incredible responsibility, because there are so many fans who care so deeply about the books, so I just hope that they like it."
