We all know about the allure of the Little Black dress, it's a staple item that we'll wear forever and even celebrities favour them when on the red carpet.
Last night at the American Music Awards a number of starlets took to the red carpet wearing gorgeous black dresses, but whilst some might be tired of this look, these dresses ensured they made a statement.
Naya Rivera kept her look ultra sultry in her Michael Kors gown with cut-out back and keyhole design. Showing plenty of cleavage she looked beautiful, adding gold accessories to give the look a luxe touch.
Rihanna avoided the red carpet, but she was pictured inside and onstage in Jean Paul Gaultier Couture, a cropped bralet top and maxi skirt with sheer lace details and sequins. Not one of my favourite looks from the singer who usually fares much better in the style stakes.
Katy Perry chose a beautiful spotted Oscar de la Renta gown with fitted bodice and full skirt. The Spring 2014 look featured embroidered flowers dotted over the gown. A very sweet look. Huge curled hair was paired with a matte red lip for her beauty look and she added a touch of quirkiness with her Olympia Le-Tan 'dictionary' box clutch bag. The look was fun and stylish at the same time.
Kesha was surprisingly one of my favourite looks of the evening. She looked beautiful in her Michael Costello black gown. The one-shouldered gown features a thigh-high split with an exaggerated peplum detail on the waist. She paired the dress with a fun twist, pastel multi-coloured hair. This look was no were near as daring as her other red carpet looks, but you can't deny that she looks amazing.
Jordin Sparks also opted for a thigh-high split black gown, but her gold studded top-half made the look a whole lot more tougher. Her Jovani Couture gown was complimented with gold and black accessories, a sleek ponytail and subtle make-up.
Finally, one person let down the favoured Little Black dress club and it was such a disappoint. Heidi Klum wore a too-fussy look from Marchesa. The fringe, sheer inserts and lace details were all too much for this look. It just didn't work well.
