We’ve been admiring Bryce Dallas Howard’s unique red carpet style for years now, and at the New York premiere of new movie Gold on Tuesday night she wowed us again in a black velvet gown.
The actress wore a strapless black velvet gown by Thornton Bregazzi’s Preen label, which featured an asymmetrical hem and was gathered at the front. Bryce teamed the gown with a pair of black strappy heels and kept her accessories to a minimum, opting for just a pair of turquoise earrings.
Bryce’s hair was styled in a loose up do, while her fringe was swept to the side. Earlier in the night she shared a photo of herself on the way to the event on Instagram, showing that she’d kept her fringe clipped to the side until she arrived on the red carpet.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Bryce revealed that it’s her nine-year-old son Theodore she goes to for fashion advice. "My son is very honest," Bryce said.
”My daughter [4-year-old Beatrice], she has no perspective. She thinks everything is beautiful, which is awesome. I mean, he'll just look at it and just be like, ‘No.’"
Bryce is also know for her red carpet thriftiness, not being afraid to wear off the rack designs to A-list events. Earlier this month she wore a gorgeous maroon lace gown by Alexis to the 2nd Annual Moët Moment Film Festival. The dress cost just $497.
Back in December Bryce looked to the British high street for inspiration, choosing a $250 Grecian-style yellow dress from Topshop for the Critics’ Choice Awards.
Her stunning embellished sapphire gown by Jenny Packham, worn to the Golden Globes last January, was also off the rack, found by the actress herself at Neiman Marcus.
Speaking about why she prefers to buy dresses herself for the red carpet, Bryce told People last January: “When you’re not ‘sample’ size, or when you don’t have a direct relationship with a designer, or if you don’t have a lot of notice, those types of size 6 dresses just aren’t that available that much.
“So, what I found is that if something is sort of last-minute, or I don’t have a good relationship with a place, then I go to Neiman’s, or I get something online.”
