Why did you want to become the face of Isme?
Because I like dressing up and enjoying clothes more than ever before and I love online shopping; I do all my shopping online.”
What is it you relate to most with the brand?
The age group: I find it very interesting that what we thought 10 years ago is very different to what we think now. I was also surprised at how much choice isme.com has on the website, which encourages you to try something different.
Over the years how has your style changed?
My countdown days were full of shoulder pads but my style really changed when Roland Mouret bought back the dress with materials that had some give in them. This was the changing point for me…I’m all about a dress.
Is there anything you wouldn't wear now?
Not much…I dress for my shape not my age but I wouldn’t wear a mini skirt now, which I would have done 10 years ago.
What style advice do you have for woman dressing when they're over 50?
Make the most of what you’ve got. There are no set rules. When women are in their 20’s they are constantly comparing themselves to others and often feel they come up short. I think women in their 50’s have a greater acceptance of themselves and therefore it’s really about wearing what you feel good in and what looks good on you.
How about shoes, bags and accessories, is there anything that women over 50 should avoid?
I’m not big on accessories. If you put a piece of jewellery on or pick up a bag and it looks good that’s great.
What trends are you looking forward to trying in Spring/Summer?
I love the lighter colours coming in for spring and also a bit of layering. It’s nice to take off the big winter coat and layer with cardigans and jackets instead.
There's been plenty of criticism for the figure-hugging dresses that you've worn, but I think you look amazing. What do you say to this criticism?
It’s like water off a ducks back to me…I don’t mind. People will always criticise but I’m happy with my style choices and am enjoying the clothes I wear.
