Of course there were plenty of stylish people hitting the red carpet last night at the 2014 Met Gala, and what’s more, there were plenty of stylish couples who complemented each other with their looks.
Our favourites of the evening were Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds who very rarely make a red carpet appearance together, thankfully they shunned their privacy last night and looked gorgeous doing so. Blake looked incredibly regal in her custom Gucci Première silk chiffon blush gown which was embellished with rose-gold sparkling details. You can instantly see that the gown was made for Blake, it hugged every curve and fitted her perfectly across the body and waist.
Of course it wasn’t just the gown that ensured Blake stood out on the night, everything from her hair and make-up was flawless and a selection of ruby jewels from Lorraine Schwartz not only complemented her dress but matched the bow tie on her husband’s suit. Wearing a crushed velvet black suit, the actor added some colour with his bow tie and showed that they really are the perfect pair.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen once again made an appearance at the Met Gala and again they were a standout couple. Both wore black looks with velvet details, it’s hard to fault a couple that’s as handsome as these two.
Beyonce and Jay Z ensured they turned heads as they made their way onto the red carpet for the Charles James: Beyond Fashion event. Beyonce looked beautiful wearing a Givenchy Couture number which featured thigh-high split, low v neck, beaded details and sheer material. Sounds like a hot mess, but of course this Bootylicious singer carried it off with ease. She added a burgundy lip, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a beaded veil to complete another standout look. Jay Z looked once again only too happy to be standing by the side of his beautiful wife, and he looked dapper in his cream tuxedo jacket with black pants and bow tie. Classic and timeless.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard also made our favourite dressed couples list too, thanks to Johnny’s quirky accessories which included a pocket watch, tinted glasses and a cane. Amber looked beautiful in a nude lace gown from the Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture collection which she paired with a deep red lip.
Charlize Theron and Sean Penn made a red carpet appearance in matching monochrome looks, we certainly can’t wait to see more of these two on the red carpet together.
Victoria and David Beckham also of course wore matching looks at the Met Gala, something they’ve been a fan of doing for years (we all remember the leather biker looks). Victoria wore a self-designed gown from her own label and David matched her in a white dinner jacket and shirt.
We couldn’t leave out Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who certainly made a lot less of an entrance compared to last year. Kim looked stunning in a navy number designed for her by Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz and Kanye looked sleek in his black tuxedo with fishtails, white shirt and waistcoat. Ensuring he didn’t look too done, he shunned a bow tie and left his neck clean. A chic couple that we look forward to seeing on their wedding day, who’s with us?
Finally, Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger of course brought their style game to the Met Gala this year. Diane looked beautiful in one of this season’s hottest shades ice-blue from Hugo Boss and Joshua looked smart and dapper in his cream and black tuxedo outfit.
Who was your best dressed couple?
