Victoria Beckham, global fashion designer

Last week saw Victoria Beckham honoured as the best Designer Brand at the British Fashion Awards.

She was overcome with emotion after being awarded the huge accolade, as year after year she has tried to prove that she is a worthy designer, and clearly all of her hard work has finally paid off.

The Essex girl has become one of the most sought after fashion designers in the world since launching her own label, Victoria Beckham in 2008.

But looking back, did we really think she was able to achieve this back in the Spice Girl days? Probably not.

The 37 year old shot to fame in 1996 when the girl band released single ‘Wannabe.’

But as one fifth of one the biggest girl groups of all time, it was obvious from the word go singing was not Victoria’s forte; it was fashion that was her true calling.

So once the Spice Girls split in 2000, Posh set her sights on a solo singing career, which unfortunately didn’t last, and it was then that, Victoria began her quest to become a top fashionista.

Her fashion journey began, back in 2004 where she designed a limited edition denim line for Rock & Republic, called VB Rocks and since has created her own denim and eye wear line for the dvb range, with her husband, David.

Since she has appeared on catwalks and appeared on the cover of Vogue several times.

From this, the mum of four’s style has only got better and better, she is known for her love of designer labels and heels. As time has gone on she has developed a sleek and well put together style that is copied everywhere.

In 2006, she released a fashion book, That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything In Between in which she spills her hints and tips of good fashion.

However it was 2008 that would change her life in fashion forever. This was the year that she launched her own label, Victoria Beckham.

She has gone on to produce five collections and has recently launched a range of bags and a collection of ‘affordable’ dresses.

Her dresses are extremely popular, and are adorned by the Hollywood elite; everyone from Elle Macpherson to Cameron Diaz wears them.

The tailoring and craftsmanship put into each garment is extraordinary, but since her dresses cost thousands of pounds you’d expect a well made piece.

But after debuting her fifth collection that at New York Fashion Week in September 2011, the exquisite collection cemented her firmly as a leading contender in the world of fashion.

Victoria is as style conscious and ambitious as ever, showing no signs of slowing down. What’s next for Mrs Beckham fashion line? We will just have to wait and see…
