Rachel McAdams has come a long way since she first came to our attention in Mean Girls, starring in Red Eye, The Family Stone and the upcoming The Time Traveler's Wife.

Over the years her style has changed quite a bit in both her films and of course in her personal life. She's established herself as a hot acting talent and always looks perfectly groomed at premieres, meaning she's hit our fashion radar a few times.

Mean Girls was arguably her breakthrough role, despite having worked before, with her genius performance as high school Queen B Regina George, with great support from a young Lindsay Lohan.

Her Wedding Crashers appearance alongside Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson cemented her as one to watch, and her newly dyed dark locks gave her a new look of sophistication.

Rachel is currently filming the new Sherlock Holmes movie, directed by Guy Ritchie in London and has another three films in the pipeline for 2009 and 2010, making her a firm fashion and film one to watch.

We take a look back at her most notable film roles to see how her fashion and style have changed...

Mean Girls

One of our favourite chick flicks of the modern age, McAdams performance in this is hilarious and we're loving the fashion looks she sports in the movie. Tartan mini-skirts, velour tracksuits and pretty much anything low cut makes an appearance, but we're particularly fond of her strapless pink dress, complete with back brace decorated with roses, towards the end of the film.

The Notebook

Wow, she really knows how to work vintage style well and funnily enough, this is probably a style you would see now on a fashion led show, such as Gossip Girl. We're loving the funky hat with massive bloom and the colour of the dress really suits her pale complexion, along with her darker strawberry blonde hair. The mock croc bag and gloves are also massively in fashion this season, so look to this film and Rachel for style inspiration.

Married Life

Once again a period film is where McAdams seems to shine, in terms of her elegant style certainly. We're loving the peroxide blonde bob and red lipstick, how very Marilyn Monroe! She also looks a little bit like the lovely Gwen Stefani in this shot, and being that she's a style icon too, McAdams is definitely channeling a good look.
