Following topless pictures of Peaches Geldof surfacing over the weekend, with her body covered in tattoos, we thought is was time to ask- do tattoos still make a statement about both your look and personality?
Peaches certainly seems to think so, as she credits her 20 tattoos to different stages in her life, and usually has a new one added to mark the beginning or end of something as a rule.
So is she a good role model for teenagers, flaunting her body art like fashion or is this now perfectly normal behaviour and we're all a little behind the times with it?
Some of her art is perhaps, a little controversial as she has a tattoo of an open book with a noose hanging over the page, inspired by her ex Faris Badwan, but other than that her tattoos are quite tame.
Very few tattoos shock these days, unless you include the dreadful 'art' sported by Jodie Marsh recently. She unveiled her new tattoos before Christmas, which included a self portrait and a bizarre picture of Elvis on both her arms.
While Peaches might be written off as someone who likes to experiment and shock, other celebrities are also getting in on the tattoo act; including the Hollywood A-list.
It could be argued that Angelina Jolie first made tattoos cool in the first place, and what's more made them look feminine too. She likes to update her look with a new tattoo every so often, usually when she welcomes a new addition to the family.
Where once we may have considered tattoos for manly bikers, more and more women are turning to body art to make a statement about themselves, be it a fashion, political or personal one.
Victoria Beckham has also been credited with making tattoos more girly and feminine, while Cheryl Cole on the other hand has been reportedly called cheap for her tattoos.
So what do you think, do they make a fashion statement anymore, or has too much over-exposure on cheap celebs damaged their credibility?
