Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs

Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs

It's the fashion event of the year, so there are no excuses for turning up to this glittering occasion looking anything less than dazzling, darling.

So who fared well this year at the annual Costume Institute Gala? Well, it's safe to say that the evening belonged squarely to Kate Moss, who for once proved the fashion gossips right by wearing a gold turban to complete her look.

Rumours had been rife that the supermodel had been busy sketching turbans for the event, and she didn't disappoint on the night by actually making gold lurex look fashionable.

The theme for the evening was 'Model As Muse' and Kate certainly lived up to that, as she dazzled on the red carpet with her pal and accessory for the evening, Marc Jacobs hanging off her arm.

Opting for a Grecian theme, Kate's one-shoulder draped number was simple, yet elegant and by keeping her whole outfit and accessories neutral, she easily stole the show thanks to that woven turban perched on her head!

We adored the nude matching gold shoes, the fabulous blue jewelled rings and her signature smokey make-up, which complimented her tan perfectly.

Thankfully she left the five sets of chavvy gold hoops at home and just opted for a pair of dangly diamonds for the occasion, to complete her golden goddess look to perfection.

It seemed to be a good night for the Kate's on the red carpet, as our award for most beautiful gown has to go to the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale.

Rarely does a dress want to make us weep so much, but Kate's sweeping feathered skirt and bejewelled top by Marchesa was absolutely stunning and the right side of OTT for such a fashionable occasion.

The midnight blue/grey colouring is bang on trend for the season ahead and Kate's natural tan, simple tousled chocolate locks and glowing skin kept her from looking tangoed on the night.

Someone who should have perhaps toned down the fake tan was Victoria Beckham, but we still adore her for her youthful, fun and playful Louis Vuitton polka dot dress with a sweeping train, she wore to last night's event.

We'll admit we weren't entirely sure of Victoria's choice initially, but after facing criticism last year for dressing too old, you have to love Vic's determination for coming out this year in this mini-delight.

The pale pink netted number suited her down to the ground, and we're beginning to love her swept back hair on the red carpet, which no longer makes her look like a man- in fact she looks darn right feminine now!

Like the rest of the fashion pack, Victoria kept her accessories to a bare minimum on the night, opting for some black satin Louis Vuitton shoes, diamond studs and a red knuckleduster ring.

Our only criticism is the sheer orangeness of her face, but to be fair we love her smokey eyes, nude lips and flushed cheek combo, so therefore she can probably afford to go OTT on the tan, when she knows she's going to look this good at the end!

We have to give a special mention to a few other ladies who dazzled on the night too, namely Liv Tyler who has been MIA from many a fashion event recently and it's nice to have her back.

Her sparkly midnight blue number was beautiful, and we simply adored Kate Hudson's gold sequined backless number, but giving everyone a run for their money this year had to be the Olsen Twins, who proved once again they are like chalk and cheese when it comes to their fashion choices.

Ashley went for simple elegance in a white draped Grecian dress by Christina Lacroix, while Mary Kate opted for a grey layered number, which was inventive, fresh and oh-so stylish at the minute.

Speaking of stylish, we struggled to recognise a Miss Agyness Deyn when she took to the red carpet, as she'd had a total glam-over and now eerily resembled Marilyn Monroe.

Dressed in a grey velvety draped dress, Agyness looked a picture of elegance, as she completed the look with backcombed hair and heavily made up eyebrows and pale lips. Gorgeous!
