Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan Dunn

With 2008 drawing to a close, it's time to look ahead to 2009 and who are the hot 'ones to watch' in the world of fashion, design, acting and music.

There have been many names that have made an impact on us this year, with the most recent style names coming to the forefront thanks to the British Fashion Awards, held last month.

However, we've widened the net to include names in fashion, acting and those on the social scene who we think are 'hot' news for next year.

We've picked some industry faves, as well as some really quite new and undiscovered talent, not to mention those who have shown promise in the world of TV and film.

Then there are those who fall out of clubs every other night and still manage to make our style radar too. Lastly, we've also tapped into the music scene to see those who have made an impression this year. So sit back and enjoy our ones to watch for 2009...

Models: Jourdon Dunn/ Rosie Huntington Whiteley

We couldn't decide between these two lovely ladies, as Jourdan was given the official status of Model Of The Year by the British Fashion awards and Rosie has a really quirky sense of style.

Clearly they both have the potential to be as big as Agyness Deyn, if not bigger as she was hotly tipped to win model of the year, this time around and did not make the cut. Jourdan has been on the catwalk an impressive 75 times this year and has labels lining up to sign her for their new campaigns, although she remains a pretty untapped talent in terms of experience.

Rosie on the other hand was featured alongside Jourdan for a Vogue cover in last months issue, clearly an indication of her rising fame. She is also the new face of Burberry and will model for D&G underwear in the autumn, but she is perhaps best known for her work with Victoria's Secret. Either way, both of these ladies will be huge news in 2009, remember you heard it here first...

Designer: William Tempest

This may not be a name who people have heard of yet and that's the beauty of this list, as in the next few years you will know who he is. After starring in Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden this year and debuting his collection at London Fashion Week, the designer struck up a firm friendship with style icon of the moment, Emma Watson.

She wore one of his designs to her Tale of Despereaux premiere in New York last week and the fashion world was abuzz with her style, and who she was wearing. When Tempest was revealed as the designer a few days later, we knew he was a hot talent to watch, especially when we learnt he had designed for Madonna in the past.

'IT' Girl: Ally Hillfiger

Remember that MTV show, Rich Girls a few years ago? Yes, it took us a while too, but it starred Ally Hillfiger with her best pal Jaime Gleicher going about their business in an every day life. Well, back then Ally had quite a funky sense of style, but now she has reappeared on the fashion and social scene a few years older and with it a few years wiser too.

Her fashion sense has taken on a new twist, as she develops her own look by clashing prints and colours, while rocking many designer pieces too. We especially love her 'geek chic' look she has been sporting of late, wearing huge glasses, along with Margherita Missoni who has also been seen working the look.

Fashionable Actor: Ed Westwick

The Gossip Girl actor has some pretty bizarre fashion on the hit TV show, when starring as the deliciously evil Chuck Bass, but off screen the British actor has got just as quirky a sense of style as his alter ego.

Ed has been signed to front the new K-Swiss campaign next year, and we're sure more fashion endorsements will follow, once the second season of the show airs over here. His role is more central in the next series, and trust us, his own personal style is influenced heavily by his on screen persona. Only he could rock a tartan jacket, bright blue ray bans and red skinny jeans and still look hot.

Fashionable Actress: Leighton Meester

Yes, we are big fans of Gossip Girl here at FemaleFirst, and this lady is top of our fashion hot list for next year. With the second series of the show hitting the UK in January, we've had a sneak peak of the fashion and trust us- it tops the first by miles.

Off screen, Leighton is already receiving praise for her on-trend style and clever outfit choices, even eclipsing Blake Lively in terms of fashion coverage. Like Ed, Leighton has been signed to front a footwear campaign, this time for Reebok and surely her own dress and accessory line is just around the corner.

We'd also like to give a special mention to her co-star Taylor Momsen, who may only be 15 but is already developing her look. You never know, this time next year she may be top of our prestigious ones to watch.

New Emerging Talent: Pixie Geldof

Pixie has successfully stolen some of the limelight from her sister, Peaches this year and we predict by next year, the light will be firmly shining on Pixie and her style. Appearing at the British Fashion awards in a yeti coat and hanging out with the uber-trendy Alice Dellal, Pixie made headlines for her fashion sense.

We'll be honest we weren't bowled over by her look, but she did undoubtedly kick-start a trend for oversized coats, which we predict many will try out at least once. Her bleached crop and rock star style is also pretty structured, so next year we want her to really cut loose and be different.

Fashionable Music Icons: The Saturdays

We already covered the girls and their style a few months ago, and we think they have massive potential to become style icons, especially if they take a chance and stop wearing coordinating outfits. They are five gorgeous Brit girls, who can become as big as Girls Aloud in both music and style, but they need to experiment a bit more.

We quite liked Bad Lashes and their X Factor fashion, despite it only being for one week, Saturday's take note and rock out a bit more please, then you'll be making our best dressed list next year.
