Alice Dellal and Pixie Geldof: The New Sloanes

Alice Dellal and Pixie Geldof: The New Sloanes

Those too young to remember the original Sloanes, won't really understand the fuss surrounding their return into polite fashion society, but we sure do.

The original Sloanes consisted of wealthy, privileged society ladies, who championed the twin set and pearls look, and partied with the Royal and social elite.

Now, while you may not think they have a place in today's recession-hit world, you'd be wrong, because there are a whole new generation of Sloanes ready to take centre stage.

Think along the lines of Alice Dellal, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and the Geldof sisters and you'd be on the right lines- privileged girls, who have a fashion conscience.

All three are wealthy and have successful careers as models, but  champion a different sort of Sloane look to the one sported long ago, by the likes of the gorgeous Princess Di, for example.

That said, while the style rules back then were all about appearing ladylike, the fashion pack these days seem to favour a more grungy-cool sort of look, which consists of ripped tights, oversized T-shirts and tiny hotpants.

If you need any more convincing about the Sloanes making a comeback, then you only need to consult the new edition to the Gucci handbag family.

Seen on the ever-trendy Kate Moss, the Solaney Joy bag is already causing a fashion sensation, not least because they are part of a limited edition range- two words which will no doubt start a frenzy,

Peaches Geldof and Daisy de Villeneuve have also been spotted with the new 'it' bag of the moment, so you know its a trend to take seriously.

With fashion going all Patriotic recently, what with Vivienne Westwood's Gold Label collection and now Gucci's Union Jack emblazoned bag, what could be a better accessory this summer?
