Are Body Wraps The Way Of The Future?

Christmas parties are fast approaching and we all want to look our best this year. If you think it may be too late to start dieting, then why not try some of our instant inch loss methods and tips?

This week we'll be looking at everything from body wraps to simple fake tanning. After looking at colonic irrigation yesterday, today we'll be examining body wraps and their instant inch loss claims.

So what exactly is a body wrap and how does it work? Well, there are many different types of wraps out there, which all claim to do different things for our skin.

The first one we're going to look at is the Universal Contour Wrap, which is the one that most professional salons offer their clients. It works by soaking bandages in a mud solution for a few hours previous to your session, before it is wrapped tightly around the areas that you wish to lose weight from.

Therapists usually take your measurements before the treatment so you can see how much you have lost after each session, and for most people this is often a pleasant surprise. Elasticated cotton bandages are used in this treatment to contour, lift and shape the body. They work by compressing soft tissue while the active ingredients get to work.

A wrap tends to comprise of two stages and these are absorption and squeezing. When the wrap is first applied to your skin, your pores will become enlarged, which in turn allows toxins to be extracted by the body wrap. At the same time, the ingredients in the wrap solution will nourish, tone and soften your skin.

As soon as the wrap has been applied to your body, the next stage of the process- "squeezing" begins. As all the toxins are gently flushed out, and the skin begins to tighten again, which in theory should leave you with a thinner body.

Another type of body wrap revolves around drinking plenty of water after your session, in order to draw out more toxins from your body. This is perhaps not the best option for those who don't drink a lot of water anyway, as if you don't you'll find it hard to maintain the initial weight loss.

There are also many home kits on the market now, with the industry for instant inch experiencing a boom, as we all get desperate to shed those pounds in time for the festive season.

The home wraps work in a similar way, except the clay solution is applied directly to your skin, while the bandages are left to soak for 10 minutes in hot water. Once you've applied the clay, carefully unfold the bandages and wrap tightly around the chosen area where you want to lose weight from. Then wrap in a further layer of cling film, which you have already pierced and leave on for half an hour.

It will probably start to feel very cold and clammy as the skin detoxifies, but once you have removed the bandages and assessed the inch loss, we think it will more than make up for the messy wrap.

The great thing about the demand for this type of weight loss is that salons are getting more competitive, and will more than likely offer deals in the run-up to Christmas, to entice customers through the door.

They usually offer the contour wrap experience in three session packages, so you can sustain the weight loss for longer, but this can cost up to £100 in the most expensive salons, so shop around if you decide this is the instant inch loss method for you.
