Hourglass figures like Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Kelly Brook look set to disappear as new research indicates that women's waists have grown by 7 inches since 1951.
The Iconic Curves of women like Marilyn Monroe look set to disappear as women in general get a little more thick around the waist.
Not only this, but women in the UK now weight 7.5 lbs than they did in 1951.
Since 1951 women’s average waistlines have increased by a phenomenal 7 ½ inches. 60 years ago the average woman’s waistline was 27 inches and according to new research from LoveLite it is now 34 ½ inches.
In the 50s the difference between the bust and hips to the waistline was 10 ½ inches – which gave women that curvy hourglass shape, but now in 2013 women’s figures are much flatter at only 4 ½ inches difference from bust to waistline.
Since the Mad Men show premiered last week on Sky Atlantic the LoveLite clinic in Harley Street have had a huge 40% increase of orders for their body sculpting waistline reduction treatment Lipoglaze, from women wanting to get the curves of gorgeous secretary Joan Harris, played by Christina Hendricks.
LoveLite Beauty Director Donnamarie McBride said: "By far the most popular treatment with our Lipoglaze system is the Mad Men waistline and since the show came back on to TV we’ve been inundated with bookings.
“The reason why it’s in such demand is because the waistline is one of the hardest areas to shift weight. Even with regular work-outs and a good diet this is often the last area that a women will lose fatty tissue, but with our treatment it’s gone within weeks.”
And she added: “For the Mad Men look we treat both sides of the waist, which creates a greater hour-glass contour like Christina Hendricks. It works on the front of the tummy to significantly reduce the waistline so women can fit into tight pencil skirts, and belted shift dresses.
“The treatment can take couple of inches off the front of the tummy as well to even further reduce the waistline, and it’s totally non invasive so there’s minimal sensation and practically no side effects.”
Several UK celebs have had the Mad Men lipoglaze treatment including Binky Felstead from the Made In Chelsea Show.
The data compiled for women’s sizes by SizeUK showed that while the average waist size has swollen by more than 25%, women’s hips and busts haven’t seen the same increases. Hip measurements have only grown by 1 inch, from 39 to 40 inches, and busts growing 1 ½ inches, from 37 to 38.5 inches, noticeably smaller than the massive 7 ½ inch growth of waistlines. This has lead to a change in women’s figures from svelte hourglasses to a more rotund, stout shape and now 38% of women in the UK are classed as overweight.
