The top beauty looks of 2013

Nicole Richie was one of our favourites at this year's Met Gala

Along with looking back at all of the beautiful dresses that have taken to the red carpet in 2013, we also look back at our favourite beauty looks of the year.

There have been plenty of beauty trends, barely there makeup, red lips, pink lips and glowing skin to name just a few, and here we pick out individual looks that have stood out to us on the red carpet.

Two of our favourite beauty looks came from this year’s Met Gala in May, which had a punk theme. Whilst some took that to the extreme (Ginnifer Goodwin we’re looking at you) others got it perfectly spot on.

First up, Nicole Richie. The fashion and jewellery designer turned her hair white/grey to add a dramatic edge to her custom Topshop dress. She paired her striking hair with a simple eye and a dark vampy purple lipstick and of course glowing gorgeous skin.

Kristen Stewart also delighted on fashion’s biggest night, she wore a gorgeous burgundy jumpsuit from Stella McCartney and she matched her eye makeup with the look. A smokey, sultry cranberry coloured eye was a statement in itself. Only someone with Kristen’s attitude could have made this look work.

Then in June we has Taylor Swift pair the hot beauty trend of coloured eyeliner on the bottom lid with her ethereal Emilio Pucci gown at the Fragrance Foundation Awards. A soft and natural smokey eye was heightened with a pop of colour via her hot turquoise liner used on the lower lid. A gorgeous look for the summer months.

Back in August, at the premiere of her film The To-Do List, Rachel Bilson stood out on the red carpet wearing a bright blue Oscar de la Renta dress, and with that she paired a pop of pink via her lips and a dramatic cat eye flick that we couldn’t wait to imitate. Our final favourite look of the year came from Jennifer Hudson who paired a bright orange Christian Dior dress with electric blue eyeliner. It was definitely the standout look at the American Music Awards in November. This was another beauty look that we helped you recreate here.
