To tan or not to tan...that is the question

To tan or not to tan...that is the question

It may seem like an odd question, but you may of noticed that around this time of year, all the shops hide away their fake-tan products, until next summer.

Their thinking seems to be that in the summer we want to get the golden glow, but in winter we want to look all pale and pasty, to reflect the often miserable weather.

Well, to us it makes just as much sense to have a tan in the winter months to cheer us up. We're not talking the bronzed goddess kind of brown, but a more subtle hint of colour that will make us look less washed-out.

Also with the fabulous fashions out there being so bright and eccentric, you can't deny that some styles look better with a tan.

We like to spark national debate about this sort of beauty issue, so what do you think? Tanning in Winter- rated or slated?

Here are some celeb examples to help make up your mind:

Some fans of the Tan...

Jodie Marsh

Jodie has claimed in the past to have a natural, year long tan. Yes, considering Britain is always so full of sunshine, we can totally see where she is coming from. Tangoed to the extreme, this is not a good look.

Girls Aloud

Girls Aloud always look tantastic, bar Nicola of course who has decided pale is in fact more interesting. Hats off to the whole lot of them though, because they all look gorgeous.

Lindsay Lohan

Li-Lo has been the victim of tanning disasters in the past- remember her streaky legs and hands? But living in LA should give her a natural glow anyway, so lay off the fake stuff Lins!

Some who play it safe with pale...

Dita Von Teese

This is one classy lady who shies away from the sun, doesn't use fake tan and will probably look about 20 when she is pushing 50.

Liv Tyler

Liv has the stunning Hollywood look down to perfection- glowing skin and glossy hair. Liv is someone who looks great pale and would look just as gorge with a hint of colour. Lucky lady.

Kelly Osbourne

We don't think we've ever seen this lady with a tan! Pale is definitely what Kelly is known for and it suits her down to the ground, with her rocker roots and punk fashion following.
