Backstage at Huishan Zhang AW14, Mel Arter created a ‘charcoal’ beauty look. Drawing inspiration from China, Huishan’s latest collection is textural and adventurous, playing on artist impressions of Chinese landscapes.
The Look: “Huishan spoke this season of a cooler, sexier girl. This is epitomised with a charcoaled rimmed eye and bed hair. With a nod to the sixties, I broke it down and created a slept-in eyeliner that was more rounded at the edges” Mel Arter, Max Factor Make-up Artist.
Using new Facefinity All-Day Primer with SPF 20 (out in April), the skin was prepped to help extend the wear of foundation and neutralised with new Max Factor Colour Corrector ‘CC’ Sticks to create a perfect, flawless base. Mel says, “We wanted to create a clean skin alongside a strong eye and natural lip. I layered Liquid Effect Pencil in Black Fire with Xpert Eyeliner around the eye and weaved a stroke of charcoal into the socket – soft but not perfectly applied. Eyes were mascara free to keep the lines clean. The sort of girl we all want to look like.”
Nails we finished with Glossfinity in Angel Nails and Top Coat.
