Spring is finally here, which means it’s time to revamp your beauty regime and get ready for the warmer months ahead.
The beauty experts at online hair and beauty retailer Hairtrade.com have shared their secrets to get you in top shape for the sunny days to come.
Pedicure
When it comes to beauty it sometimes make sense to start from the ground upwards. Yes, we are talking feet. Our poor feet spend all winter snuggled up in thick socks and boots so it’s important to give them a bit of a make over before we show them to the world during the summer.
Make sure your feet are sandal ready by using a pumice stone to remove any dead or hard skin and then apply lots of moisturiser to avoid cracked heels. If your heels are particular bad, try moisturising before bed then putting a pair of socks on. Your skin will soften up much faster.
Exfoliate around your toe nails to rid them of any hard skin and then apply a nail strengthening serum before painting them. Not only will they be stronger, they’ll also be a lot healthier.
Fake tan
Faking it is a much healthier option than getting on a sun bed when it comes to tanning.
We all want that youthful glow but make sure you apply fake tan properly otherwise you’ll be left with streaky orange marks you’re ashamed to show off.
Before you apply your tan exfoliate and moisturise to make sure your skin is silky smooth and use a mit to get an even coverage. It’s worth investing in a decent fake tan. A £3 bottle from the discount store will not look as good as the well known brands.
Eyelash tints
Tinting eyelashes is a great way to enhance your eyes without piling on the slap.
Getting them done at a salon can be pricey; however there are plenty of products on the market that make it simple and easy to do at home.
Leave in conditioner
Spring is the perfect time to give your hair a boost and some added shine. Invest in a good leave in conditioner to rehydrate your hair, give it some bounce and a healthy glow.
Make sure you buy a product that is suited to your hair type. So if you want added volume, try a conditioner with root boost. If your hair is dry and frizzy, look for one which rehydrates your hair.
Gel nails
Beautiful nails are a must for the warmer months – you won’t be hiding your hands away in a pair of gloves.
Invest in a LED nail lamp, some gel polish and a sealer to achieve salon perfect nails from the comfort of your own home.
Gel nails have been proven to last up to two weeks with no chipping, smudging, cracks or dulling. Polishes are available in a range of colours, which are sure to help brighten up your spring wardrobe.
Firming cream
Don’t mock these miracles creams – they really do work and if you want to look good on the beach, then now’s the time to start using them.
Getting into a routine of applying firming cream means that after a few weeks your skin will be both firmer and smoother. They can also help rehydrate skin that’s been left feeling dry.
SPF moisturizer
It goes without saying that making sure you are using a facial product with SPF in it on a daily basis is a necessity. There are so many moisturisers on the market that contain SPF you’d be crazy not to invest in one.
Without it, you are prone to develop wrinkles quicker. It is important to get yourself into a daily routine before the summer months and continue this all year round.
Just because the sun isn’t burning hot, doesn’t mean it can’t harm your skin.
