Unhygiencic Brits are failing to wash their face everyday, despite the fact that taking care of our skin is vital to our beauty routine.
What's more, almost a quarter of females have admitted to leaving their make-up on before they go to bed, heightening their chances of developing fine lines and acne.
On closer inspection, Scottish women proved to have the healthiest skincare routine with a third admitting to a healthy daily routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing; whereas females in London were exposed to the worst skin care routine, with only 8% of those surveyed admitting to the same daily rituals.
Welsh proved to opt for the quickest cleansing routine, with 12% using just face wipes alone on a daily basis, neglecting their skin of a deep cleanse and essential moisturising, according to the research from ASDA.
According to Annelie Ryan, spokesperson for NSPA: "Neglecting your skin leaves your skin to battle the elements on it’s own. This will put stress on the skin causing spots, pre-mature ageing and dullness. Cleansing your skin is extremely important, otherwise the day’s impurities will clog up your pores, which can lead to a build up of bacteria and, eventually, skin complaints."
A quarter of women living in Northern Ireland seem to be creatures of habit, having stuck to the same skin care routine over the years, rather adapting to new products as their skin changes with age.
Scots won further points with almost half of the women surveyed opting for appropriate anti-ageing products, whereas although 56% of Londoners admit to being happy with their skin, they may be fast-forwarding the years with a mere one in five women applying anti-ageing products.
