We've looked at pop art beauty and grungy make-up looks this week, and now to round off the main trends for this spring, we're going to look at perfecting the retro goddess look.
This beauty look is all about perfection; think Scarlett Johansson and her 40s look of bobbed hair and red lips, it's so polished, yet not dated and gives her a very elegant look.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is another lady who knows how to work old school glamour, proving that dark haired ladies can pull of this look too. She tends to keep her eye make up very simple and focus on her lips being the focal point.
The spring catwalks were awash with retro glamour making a comeback across all the trends and despite futuristic being a big fashion look, they combined that with old world glamour to achieve a striking contrast.
Mario Schwab's SS09 look focused on combining 1930s style jumpsuits with elegantly quaffed hair and bright red lips on his models, but also gave the look a modern twist by adding a plaited belt.
Roksanda Ilincic took it one step further with her future vision, by recreating the front curl of the 1940s on her models and teaming it with dramatic eyebrows and red lips.
If you want to achieve this glamorous look then remember less is often more by today's standards. Start by evening out your skin tone with a skin-adapting foundation to make sure you have a clean base to start from.
Sweep a light dusting of powder across your forehead, chin and nose to take away any excess oil and shine. Then focus on making your eyes look understated, yet dramatic with a volumising mascara, which will make your eyes look alert and fresh.
Choose a red based blusher, as pink won't be strong enough for this look and sweep across the apples of both cheeks. Finally, prepare your lips by using a lip liner to even out your lip shape and choose a moisturising matte lipstick, which will stay in place and not smudge.
