We know that there is plenty on offer in terms of anti-ageing products for us to buy, but how much are you willing to spend on the search for youthfulness?
New research has discovered that British women are spending at least £250 each per year on anti-ageing products and procedures; with a ‘placenta face mask’ topping the charts as one of the oddest anti-ageing procedures that women would be willing to try should cost be no issue.
The survey, conducted by www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, polled 2,173 British women from across the country, aged 30 and over, in order to discover more about their personal beauty spending habits.
The majority of respondents are concerned about their skin developing the first signs of ageing, which include wrinkles, crow's feet, sun spots and cellulite.
If money were no option, the most unusual treatments women would like to try were as follows:
- Placenta face masks
- Bee venom
- Vampire face masks
- Leeches
- Sperm facial
- Bird poo facial
- Cryotherapy treatment
- Cactus massage
- Urine therapy
- Solid gold facial
Narrowly missing out of the top ten list were fire cupping and a bull sperm hair masque.
When asked whether or not they believed that the anti-ageing treatments that they currently used worked in making difference to their skin’s appearance, 53% said they were optimistic that they did; whilst 25% said they were sure that the treatments they currently used were not effective. 22% claimed that they were unsure either way.
According to the research, the average British woman over the age of 30 spends £256.25 each per year on anti-ageing products and treatments.
Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, had the following to say about the findings: “With many celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian, trying the latest extreme beauty procedures, we were curious to see if the British public would want to attempt some of the more radical facial treatments available. It’s clear that many would go to extreme lengths in the name of anti-ageing should money be no question, and to see that the average women spends over £250 fighting the signs of ageing was surprising. There are great products on the market proven to be just as effective as the most expensive of procedures, so it’s always worth doing your research and saving yourself some money wherever possible.”
