Women are shunning their make-up bags on holiday and even leaving them at home in favour of natural beauty.
Research shows that when it comes to beauty habits many women are likely to be themselves when on holiday. According to the results, 62% of women admit that they are more likely to ‘let go’ whilst on a sunshine break.
The majority of these stating that this was because they weren’t likely to bump into anyone they knew.
And it’s not just the make-up that’s being discarded too; our hair products are shunned whilst in the sun. 24% said that they didn’t style their hair on their last holiday, leaving straighteners or curling tongs, instead leaving it to fall natural.
62% of the women taking part admitted that they were more likely to 'let go' on holiday than when at home in the UK, in the sense that they didn't try as hard to look good. When asked why this was the case, 74% said it was because they weren't likely to bump into anyone they knew, so they didn't need to try as hard.
Chris Clarkson, Managing Director of sunshine.co.uk who conducted the research, said the following about the findings: "As most time on a holiday overseas is spent around or in the pool or sea, it seems a waste to put make-up on; particularly as it's so hot and it might not last. I think many men would prefer the natural look on women, so it's refreshing that so many just left their make-up at home.
"Some cosmetics can make skin more sensitive to the sun's rays, so women should be careful if they are wearing make-up in the day in case they end up sunburnt!"
