The designed was inspired by the five rings

The Olympics have finally begun – I mean the build-up was long enough, wasn’t it? – and the shops have gone Team GB and Union Jack crazy. So we decided to come up with our own Olympic-inspired nail art.

We took inspiration from the five rings and instead of just drawing them onto each of our fingernails decided to do something a little different. We tried the half-moon design.

Having never tried it before there has to be an apology for the shaky hand and not so clean lines on the design.

To create the look we used three thin coats of Barry M white as the base colour.

Once that dried we put on an LCN Sparkle effect polish, which gave the nail a slight shimmer. (It’s quite difficult to see this in the pictures)

For the half-moons we used the five colours of the ring; blue, yellow, black, green and red. To draw them on we used the Rio Nail Art pens.

It does take a steady hand and a lot of practise, but persevere and you will get there in the end.

Once dry, seal it with a top coat and there you have it – Olympic-inspired nail art.
