Have A Make-Up Clearout

Have A Make-Up Clearout

February is nearing its end, which means it will soon officially be spring. Yes, we know we've been telling you for months that spring is nearly upon us, but this time we really mean it!

The nights are getting longer and it's still light at 5pm, so that to us is a cue to begin our annual spring make-up clear out.

Thanks to cheap make-up offers, experimental glitter palettes from Christmas and far too many eyeshadow sets given by generous relatives, your make-up bag is probably full to the brim right now.

It's a tad annoying when you have to spend hours on end sifting through your make-up just to find your foundation.

That's not to mention the amount of half empty mascaras/eyeliners/concealers, which have now reached their end, but you seem unable to throw away.

So, here's our tips to a spring clear-out, which will hopefully help you get ready quicker and give you that much needed push to ditch the make-up you'll never ever wear, but keep just in case of an emergency.

First things first, buy yourself a new make-up bag. It will help you to let go of the rubbish in your old make-up bag, and may encourage you not to fill your new one up with mindless experimental colours.

Next, ditch all your mascaras that you have stored up over the past few months. Even if they are all for different things, if they're dry or in danger of giving you an eye infection- get rid.

Also, ask yourself if you really need those ten different nail polishes that are currently residing in your make-up bag, and if the answer is no, then ditch them!

Old eye or eyebrow pencils are worth keeping hold of as these can be re sharpened and used again, unless of course they are down to the nub and have nothing left in them.

Now some sun is getting on your face, you may not need such a light foundation, so reassess what you have been using for the past few months, and if it no longer goes with your skin, either store away for a rainy day, or give to a relative to prevent waste.

Lastly, revaluate the amount of lip glosses/lipsticks and eyeshadows that you have, because chances are you've stored up quite a few during the winter.

Feel free to keep them all, but separate them into a 'use everyday' and a 'use every so often' pile and put in different make-up bags.

Put your 'use everyday' pile into your new make-up bag and then file the remaining stuff away until you need to use it, therefore preventing clutter.
