As terrifying and as ludicrous as it might seem, this startling trend has started to filter down to the average bloke.
Yes, make-up for men has seen a boom in the last 12 months, and who do we have to thank for it? Well, celebrities mainly, who have openly admitted to wearing make-up while off set or when attending a glitzy premiere or awards ceremony of some kind.
Johnny Depp first kick started the trend in our opinion, when he stepped out in Pirates Of The Caribbean as the dashing Captain Jack Sparrow.
He wore so much eyeliner that he practically looked like a (gorgeous) panda, yet women swooned and men were puzzled. How could make-up look so good on a guy? When Johnny reprised his role for the two sequels, by now men had got more curious and were clamouring to dress up as him at any kind of fancy dress party.
Russell Brand is also partial to the odd bit of eyeliner and even Richard Armitage, who plays Guy of Gisbourne in BBC's Robin Hood had his eyeliner nicknamed 'Guyliner' after his character was constantly spotted with lined eyes.
Yesterday we brought you our thoughts on how we think men are morphing into women, what with their beauty treatments and hair products now taking up more space in the bathroom than ours. Well, if that is indeed the case we can either help them out or let them get it spectacularly wrong.
Here's the scenario, you glance in your make-up bag and notice your eyeliner is missing- not necessarily earth shattering, but your puzzled. Next you go into the bathroom to see if your eyeliner is in there by mistake, only to see your boyfriend standing in front of the mirror trying not to poke his eye out with said missing item.
Well, first you'd probably stand there mouth agape and then you'd probably burst out laughing, while your bloke looks sheepishly at the floor. The options are this- they can either continue nicking your stuff behind your back and hope you won't notice, or you can maybe help them get it right.
Some guys will be up front about it and put it blatantly on their Christmas lists for you to go and get for them, while others will just do it sneakily and hope and pray to get it right.
But, as us girls know there is an art to getting your make-up right. It takes years of mistakes, colour no-nos and blatant bronzing disasters before you finally find a balance that you and your skin are happy with.
Most men are so impatient at the best of times, so could you imagine them painstakingly trying out new brands of make-up until they get it right? Nope, us neither.
It really comes down to how curious your man is and if he's at all interested in trying out make-up in the first place. With celeb hotties such as Zac Efron making the trend appeal to a younger market too, perhaps its time we just let them get it out of their system.
Then again, we could be opening a whole new can of worms if we allow our man to wear make-up. Imagine fighting it out for the bathroom mirror with him to put on mascara! Is that just a step too far? What do you think- make-up for men, are you for it or against it?
